Dreaming of the Sun

"Here come the sun do do do do, here comes the sun and I say it's all right da na na na na na..."

I love seasonal change and always have but lately I have been missing the sun and the warmth! So I starting googling the sun(why is it when I say googling I always feel silly?)  Anyway, I stumbled upon these lovely pic's while I happily googled away. ;-)

These last two are of Dylan and I, we decided on a ever so typical whim to both dye our hair the other night when Dylan had the idea we should do a mother/daughter photo shoot. With our new red hair we threw on clothes and make-up and called Dylan's cousin Sabrina to see if she would take our picture, she agreed so we hopped in the car and started chasing the light.  We had such a great time and loved working with our photographer!

 More pictures to come...
                                                                   Be warm and be well!

                                                                               Peace,
                                                                                     Gypsy Lov'n

Lips

Lips that form sweet sounds and passionate kisses...

Amazing Regina Spektor singing Blue Lips

LIPS
~o~
Warm lips that form a perfect cupid's bow,
that hold the morning sun within their smile.
Lips whispering to me in darkness low
and linger on my cheek the briefest while.
~o~
Pale lips that bring forth words from heav'n and hell,
that fills my heart with joys and with pains,
that takes me to the clouds where angels dwell
and curl around my heart like iron chains.
~o~
Cold lips from which the words of anger float,
then quiver with the thought of what they said.
Those cold harsh words that formed within your throat,
cold words once spoken can not be unsaid.
~o~
Hot lips that drip with passion of the night,
that begs for usage in the darkened room ,
that whisper to me ere the moon takes flight
and offer me their sweetness to consume.
~o~
Red lips like petals of the passion flower,
that part to breathe the honeyed breath of love.
Those lips that my lips gladly would devour,
whose honey I would taste again thereof.
~o~
Sweet lips that greet me with a loving smile.
Lips brushing mine with gentle sweet caress.
Those lips that frame the brilliance of your smile.
Those lips that to me ever more impress.
~o~

The law of production...

THE LAW OF PRODUCTION - BY David Wolfe

The Law of our Fate
We choose our Wealth
Love brings Love
And Wealth brings Wealth

Like produces like, an effect resembles its cause.
Things produce after their kind,
Its one of the basic laws.

A smile brings a smile,
Peace brings peace;
and never will
this spiral cease.

As you sow,
So shall you reap,
Carefully choose
which seeds you keep.

Abundant seeds
In the soil spread.
Fertile plants
will grow when fed.

Things do follow
After their type.
You'll reap your crop
When the time is ripe.

For a future is found
In every seed.
Its "Cause and Effect"
..... with godspeed.

The Law of Production
The Subtleness of mind;
Success breeds success;
Each creates its kind.

Art makes us Human- By Megan

My majestic mind- Dylan

Inspiration Everywhere!

So after rambling on about how this blog is moving forward and how we will be posting weekly we are finally back.  The hiatus was due to a failing computer and out of commission camera, lucky for us, both have been fixed and we are up and running...again!  In the meantime Dylan and I have been soaking up the end of summer with; river trips, Nevada City Summer Bizarre, (more to come on that) frozen yogurt treats, musical street performances starring our very own Dylan Page and thrift shopping.  Since we didn't have the opportunity to be photographing or blogging our experiences as of late we have been focusing on being mindful in and of our surroundings.  A rock found on the shore is now the conception of a necklace, a dress found in the thrift store is now the topic of an up-cycling clothing line we are dreaming up...Inspiration is everywhere!!!  For me it was found in fistfuls at the Nevada City Summer Bizarre, I wish I had my camera with me there was so much to see, so many beautiful and creative people!  I was most impressed with Selena Martino's new line at Three Corners Designs such talent this woman possesses, I left her booth with a badass necklace  and two new pairs of earrings and the feeling I want MORE of Three Corners!  Ask and you shall receive right.... I asked and she is going to deliver with an exclusive interview for Gypsy Lov'n!  We cant wait to get a sneak peek at her newest beauties and to hear where she pulls inspiration from, stay tuned in for more.  Make it a beautiful day!

Rambling Ways...

Here is the first snippet of the photo shoot I did yesterday with Dylan and my little sisters. They are modeling Original Jewelry by Gypsy Lov'n =)

     Traveling Gypsies...

Dylan Mae is wearing a custom creation by none other than Dylan herself, loving the simplicity of the open necklace!

Shea is wearing a Megan Page custom piece and rocking it I might add!

Kayla is modeling future Jewelry, the beads just meshed well with her warrior gypsy vibe!

Up cycled anklet, should make for an easy breezy DIY...later, promise!

Gypsy Lov'n for sure! A big thank you to my beautiful models!

Evolution of Craft

For sometime now Dylan and I have crafted together, it's an important part in both our lives. We sew, paint, collage, write, sing and make things; jewelery at this
very moment...but who knows what it will Evolve to...

Most recently our sewing/disaster craft zone has evolved into a studio! We are still in the process, currently working on it during non river hours. Here it is in its current state of disarray...simply beautiful...so much potential to Create!

The sewing room has been taken over by beads, leather, metal and feathers...colorful chaos!

The clever new bead rack made from a metal futon frame and hung on the wall.

This is my most recent creation, I'm loving golds and coppers right now. I think it has something to do with summer all the golden hues in these California hills.

I'll update the studio shots as soon as the room comes together, our biggest hurdle will be working with what we have, we look forward to the challenge!

It's been a long minute but...

We are back! That was a hiatus of sorts, creativity is flowing the sun is shining and this duo is ready to dive head first back into the blogging world! This time around our posts will be weekly until the demand is made to be...dare I say it...DAILY...lets just focus on weekly for now. Dylan and I have been on a jewelery kick as of late and are very much looking forward to sharing our work with you, and the evolution of our craft/design space. So stay tuned for pictures of our creations and some DIY...see you soon!

Snow Globe of our Lives

Dylan and I just came back from a lovely stroll through the canyon with the sole purpose of a photo shoot in mind...mission accomplished! Dylan is the prefect subject, she has a grace and elegance about her that is truly beyond her years...what a pleasure to be raising such a bright spirit. She was kind enough to coax me through a few shots, I generally preferring to be behind the camera! All in all it was a beautiful day and we've got pictures to prove it ;-)

My turn...

I like this one =)

Soon to come: Dylan's musical debut.... Seems we have options for her first album cover!

Colorful Expressions: Part One

Colorful Expressions: Part One

I have been surrounded by and inspired by ART my whole life, it seems my most profound life experiences and the most important people in my world are either artists or they themselves are a moving changing beautiful canvas that reflect art in the pure essence of themselves! I generally would like to think I fall into the second category myself =) I have had a hard time declaring outwardly "I am a Artist!" I find it intimidating to put labels and pressure on myself with such declarations. My husband Quincy and daughter Dylan however are Artists and I would be in shock if either declared to be anything but! So what makes an artist? Who is the judge of what works and what doesn't? Therein lies the beauty of ART... it is free form, free choice! I can call squiggly lines on paper child's play, I can announce to the world that such things are not ART, I can shout that a preschool aged child could make that! But the beauty is it changes nothing, it is ART...squiggly lines, dots, swirls, ink splatters...we are all essentially artists, the only difference is some of us are smart enough to get paid for our ART! One of my favorite artist Vincent Van Gogh was considered a joke during his life, but he still painted, he continued to create...if we were to define what being an artist is, I think Vincent would be a perfect example. He no matter what people said about his work could not put down his paint brush. He could not shut off the inspiration around him, he had to create! I am envious of his sheer passion his vision/version of the world is; simply put, beautiful.
Van Gogh_Starry Night

"Starry Night" by Van Gogh, 1889, Oil on canvas

“Looking at the stars always makes me dream. Why, I ask myself, shouldn’t the shining dots of the sky be as accessible as the black dots on the map of France? Just as we take the train to get to Tarascon or Rouen, we take death to reach a star.”- Vincent Van Gogh

The above images are mine they include oil pastels and paper collage

German Pancakes!

German Pancakes....Mmmmmm so good!

I saw a picture of these on Facebook the other day and decided that I must try these. They are simple, tasty and filling....what more could you ask for?! The most important thing is that you have a cast-iron pan, preferably organic ingredients and someone to share with. They would pair perfectly with fruit filling and some fresh whip cream, there are so many variations and fun to be had with these. Geniesst!

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons butter or shortening
  • Serving suggestion: Maple Syrup or Confectioners' sugar
  • (I may add cinnamon to it next time)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, salt, sugar, milk, vanilla, and butter. Whisk in the flour to make a smooth batter. Set aside.
Heat a well-seasoned 10-inch cast-iron skillet in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove and brush the inside with the shortening. Pour in the batter and bake for 15 minutes.
Lower the oven to 350 degrees F. and continue baking until puffed and golden brown, about 13 to 15 minutes more. Run a knife around the edge of the skillet.

This Recipe was found on the food network website, I adapted it to fit my needs and taste buds here is the direct link: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/german-pancake-recipe/index.html
